Injured India opener Rohit Sharma also shared pictures on Twitter and Instagram stating that he was very excited to be in Madrid to witness football’s biggest club rivalry from the stadium for the very first time.

Rohit Sharma, who is recovering from a calf injury, flew to Madrid with his wife Ritika Sajdeh and daughter Samaira to watch the high-voltage match on Sunday.

Rohit took to Twitter to reveal his excitement about watching the El Clasico live. “So good to be in beautiful Madrid for #ElClasico can’t wait for the game tomorrow @LaLigaEN,” Rohit Sharma tweeted.

The Spanish league was also quick to respond to the India opening batsman by calling him “hitman”. “Enjoy hitman,” LaLiga English replied on Twitter.

Earlier in December last year, Rohit had joined hands with LaLiga – Spain’s top division football league as its brand ambassador in India. He is the first non-footballer in the history of the league to have signed the dotted line with them.

The 32-year-old opening batsman at that time had expressed his desire to watch an El Clasico match between the two best clubs in the world.

“I have seen it so many times on television. There is so much passion just watching it. I can’t even imagine how it is at the stadium so many people sitting and watching El Clasico game between the two best clubs in the world. It is one of the most competitive leagues in the world. La Liga brings out so much skills and passion that when you are watching it from home itself you feel like you are at the stadium,” Rohit had said.

Lionel Messi’s Barcelona will go into the match being two points clear of Real Madrid, and a win in this match may very well put them way ahead in the title race. Real Madrid, on the other hand, will have their back against the wall as they have lost five games out of the last seven that they have played at home
