Langeveldt aims to overcome language barrier
In the past and also the present, language barrier has always been a problem for some of the players to communicate with the coaching staff and as a result of that, the job gets even difficult for the members of the coaching staff as well.
However, the newly-appointed bowling coach Charl Langeveldt said in his first press conference that he is on a mission to overcome the language barrier and communicate properly with all the players.
The former South African fast bowler believes one-to-one approach is an ideal solution to this problem.
“It’s a challenge. But if you work with the player individually, they look to open up more. I have worked in Afghanistan so I am experienced. If you work one-on-one with a player, make sure he feels understood and explain to him it works out. You know, just, slow it down, and don’t speak too fast. Speak less, listen more to the players, on what he has to say.”
“Make sure the player is comfortable to speak maybe about his family or how he is. The player can come to my room if he does not understand what I am saying, we can work it out. It’s a challenge definitely. But it’s something I am looking forward to,” he concluded.
