On the ground of disciplinary actions, Sri Lanka has sent back leg spinner Jeffrey Vandersay ahead of the third and final Test match against Windies. It is reported Vandersay has broken contractual obligations with Sri Lanka Cricket therefore has been recalled.
According to reports of Cricbuzz, a police complaint had to be lodged by Sri Lankan team official after the 28 year old leg spinner was found missing from the hotel room in the morning after he and other three cricketers enjoyed a night in a St. Lucia night club.
SLC later stated, “Vandersay, who toured West Indies with the national team is sent back to Sri Lanka owing to his conduct, which amounts to breach of contractual obligations.”
Sri Lanka has been going through much trouble during the ongoing tour in West Indies. Skipper Dinesh Chandimal was charged and suspended for ball tampering during the second Test match.
Suranga Lakmal will lead the team in absence of Chandimal after he was handed a one match suspension.
Head coach Chandika Hathurusingha and manager Asanka Gurusinha were also charged for bringing the game into disrepute after holding up play.
The island nation came out with a draw in the second Test match in St. Lucia after being humiliated in the first Test match in Trinidad where the home team thrashed Sri Lanka by 226 runs.
