Lara picks KL Rahul as his favourite batsman
Even after quitting international cricket some 13 years ago, West Indies icon Brian Lara still keeps a tab on world cricket, and he considers neither Virat Kohli nor Steve Smith, but KL Rahul as his favourite batsman.
“Around the world, there are so many amazing batsmen to look at. There is Steve Smith, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma. My favourite is KL Rahul. Cricket is healthy, the commercial side seems to be pretty good, which is important,” said Lara while talking to Sportstar in a recent interview.
“He’s just class. I mean, when you are watching a player, you want to see him play, you want to see great technique, a good aggressive spirit as well. He is a great entertainer, he’s a great person to watch bat. This is as simple as that. He’s no better batsman than Virat Kohli. Virat is the best batsmen in the world, but it’s just the preference of who I like to see bat. No disrespect to anybody else,” Lara added.
Rahul has been in magnificent form in the white-ball game of late, as he made scores of 56, 57*, 27, 39 and 45 in the T20Is and 88*, 4 and 112 in the ODIs against New Zealand while also impressing fans with his wicketkeeping skills.
The Prince of Trinidad also shared his feelings about seeing Sachin Tendulkar back in action in the Road Safety World Series.
“People are hungry for cricket, they are hungry to see legends, like (Virender) Sehwag and Sachin (Tendulkar), when they come out to play cricket. So I think it was awesome. The competition was even more than I expected.”
