Lasith Malinga to fly back home after Bangladesh match

Veteran Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga will fly back home after Tuesday’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 match against Bangladesh at Bristol.

He is going to attend the funeral of his mother-in-law.

The country’s cricket authority Sri Lanka Cricket said, “Lasith Malinga will leave the team following Sri Lanka’s World Cup Game against Bangladesh, which will be played today, as his Mother-In-Law has passed away.”

The funeral of Malinga’s mother-in-law late Mrs. Kanthi Perera will take place on 13th June, Thursday, at the Barney Raymond Funeral Home in Colombo.

The 35-year old is expected to join with the team in England before Sri Lanka’s next match against Australia which is scheduled to happen on 15th June.

Sri Lanka, playing three matches so far in the tournament earned one point in a rain washed encounter against Pakistan.

They will have to defeat Bangladesh in order to be alive in the competition.
