Latham ruled out of warm-up game against India

New Zealand wicket-keeper Tom Latham will miss New Zealand’s first warm-up game against India due to a finger injury.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has confirmed that Tom Latham can not feature in the warm-up game against India and he will be replaced by uncapped Tom Blundell.

Latham picked up a finger injury during the final warm-up match against Australia before flying to England for the World Cup.

Kane said on the day of Captains’ Day conference that Latham will miss both the warm-up games, but he is expected to be fit for their opening game against Sri Lanka on June 1.

“Tom won’t be available for the first two warm-up games. We are hoping he progresses nice and quickly and we will have to address it as the days go by,” he said.

New Zealand will be taking on India on Saturday before taking on West Indies on May 28 in run-up to tournament-proper.
