Legends and current players to play T20 match in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka’s sports minister Namal Rajapaksa has proposed a Charity cricket match be played between the two teams of Sri Lanka’s former legendary players and the current players.
This was revealed by Prof. Arjuna de Silva, the chairman of the medical panel of the Sri lanka Cricket (SLC) board.
Speaking exclusively over the telephone from Colombo on Thursday morning, he said, “This match is proposed to raise funds for COVID-19. The minister has proposed this T20 match be played in the month of April after the current players return from the West Indies.”
“We intend to host this match at the R. Premadasa Stadium and allow 50% of spectators to witness their heroes.”
“The current Sri Lankan team will be led by the T20 captain Dasun Shanaka,” he added. It is not yet clear who would lead the Legends.
TM Dilshan is now leading the Sri Lankan Legends team in the Road Safety World Series Tournament now being played in India. His team has entered into the final against India Legends team.
The match, which is most likely to be played according to Prof. De Silva, will be the first ever for COVID-19 victims relief fund.
