There was a time when Mominul Haque used to play in all the formats of the game in the beginning of his career, then he got tagged as a Test specialist batsman which somehow backfired him as he is now only considered in the Test team.
Despite performing consistently in the Test arena, he is not getting chances in other formats of the game and it is starting to disappoint the young man.
Mominul believes when it comes to Bangladesh, Test cricketers are given less value than it is given in other countries. He said: “To be honest, in Bangladesh you don’t get much value by playing Test only. We don’t have focus on Test cricket like one day.”
By performing well in Tests, Mominul wants a place in the ODI team too: “I don’t want to play Tests only. It is quite difficult to hold on to your form by playing Tests only. I hope I can make a comeback in ODI team after playing well in Tests.”
Unlike other batsman, Mominul has been quite successful in both and away, but Mominul wants to perform even better: “Everyone plays well in good wicket. If you perform well in bad wicket, then it gives you confidence. Life is not fun without challenges. The sign of a big player is to play well by accepting challenges.”
Mominul added: “If you want to become a big player, you have to take challenges. You have to play for yourself, for your country like that. I believe I can do that in the future In Sha Allah.”
