Likhon sets sights on gaining experience
Jubair Hossain Likhon is the only genuine leg-spinner in Bangladesh national cricket team’s current set up. But the young cricketer hasn’t yet been able to establish himself as a regular member in Bangladesh’s playing XI.
Likhon has been just in the process of coming in and going out ever since he made his debut for the Tigers. As a result, he couldn’t ever get the perfect basement to prove his worth as a leg spinner.
Many consider Likhon as a very unlucky bowler for that he can’t even feature in the domestic cricket on a regular basis, let alone in the national team.
However, Likhon concedes that he also lacks in some departments of bowling, and he has to remedy those errors before becoming a true contender to win national berth for a long time.
According to Likhon, he is yet to master the perfect procedures of spot bowling. So he is now giving priority to becoming better in this sector. And Likhon also has the self confidence that he has the versatility in his bowling and what he now needs is just some more time to grow a bit more mature.
“I always had my sights set on increasing the level of my experience and skill even before making debut for the national team. I have to improve in stroke bowling. I have variations in my hand, but the execution thus far hasn’t been up to the mark because of my lack of skills to bowl stroke deliveries.
“I am always trying hard to correct all the mistakes I committed in the past. Actually experience is a very big thing. It’s probably the main key to success. I am concealing with everyone. In Sha Allah I will get better by degrees in the coming days,” said Likhon.
Likhon further added, “I am practising with Mushfiqur (Rahim) bhai. We haven’t yet started our formal bowling and batting practice. Still I am talking to everyone so that I can understand what’s going wrong and which approaches could be beneficial for me. Everyone has been very supportive.”
