Liton’s CPL journey begins with a defeat
Bangladesh young wicket-keeper batsman Liton kumar Das has appeared in his first match of any foreign franchise based tournament that is in the Caribbean Premier League representing Jamaica Tallawahs on Saturday.
Jamaica Tallawahs lost the match against St Lucia Zouks by four wickets at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet.
It was the first time in the history of CPL when Jamaica Tallawahs have failed to qualify for the playoffs after suffering their seventh defeat.
St Lucia Zouks won the toss and decided to field first. Tallawahs managed to score 165 losing seven wickets which was comfortably chased by the opposition in 19.1 overs with four wickets and five balls to spare.
Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Liton Kumar Das saved the Tallawahs from initial downfall and built up an important 56-run third wicket partnership with Dwayne Smith.
Liton scored a run-a-ball 21 while Dwayne Smith made a 38-ball 58 helping Tallawahs to post 165 run in the allotted overs.
Chasing 166 for victory, Rahkeem Cornwall got the Zouks off to the perfect start with a 24-ball half-century with four fours and five sixes. The big man fetched 13 runs in the very first over of the innings.
After Cornwall’s magnificent showdown of hard hitting, Colin Ingram and Hardus Viljoen steadied the ship for the Zouks’.
Although Tallawahs managed to strike back lately taking the wickets of Colin Ingram, Viljoen and Christopher Barnwell, but the Zouk’s were already settled in the winnings position which was ensured by Daren Sammy and Krishmar Santokie at the end.
