Litton and Naeem smash century in the 10th round of DPL

Litton Kumer Das played a match winning 135 runs innings as Abahani Limited came victorious against Legends of Rupganj in the first day of the tenth round of Walton Dhaka Premier League 2016-17.

Having elected to bat first at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan Ground-4 in Savar, a 207-run opening stand between Sadman Islam and Litton Das helped Abahani Limited to post 333 in the score board after fifty overs. Both of the openers were fantastic with the bat on the middle.

Although Sadman Islam fell 15 runs short of a century, his 85-run innings was full of entertainment for the spectators which included seven fours and five sixes. Sadman’s partner Litton Das however, not missed the opportunity of smashing a century. He played a brilliant knock of 136 runs, hitting twenty fours and three sixes.

Chasing 334 in 50 overs, Legends of Rupganj had a poor start as they kept loosing wickets in a regular interval from the second over of the innings to sixteenth over. Afterwards Naeem Islam made a 101-run partnership with Mosharraf Hossain who scored 67 before going back to the pavilion in the 37th over. Naeem Islam scored 123 off 119 balls, hitting eleven fours and three sixes.

But Naeem’s century went completely in a vain as Legends of Rupganj could manage to score only 284 at the end of 50 overs.

Among the Abahani bowlers, young fast bowler Abu Jayed picked up three wickets while Shuvagata, Saqlain and Saifuddin took one wicket each.
