Visiting Australia has regained the momentum in the first innings of the first Test against Bangladesh as they captured the precious wickets of both Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan in the post lunch session of the first day at the Sher – e – Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
Losing 2 vital wickets in the second session of the day, the home team added 94 runs, ended scoring 190 runs losing 5 wickets.
The fourth wicket partnership between Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan contributed 155 runs, revived the Tigers’ innings hopefully after being plunged into deep trouble losing 3 early wickets.
Both of them are playing their 50th Test match and completed half centuries with grace but unfortunately could not carry on the innings for longer runs.
Tamim was the first to go, occasional bowler Glenn Maxwell did the trick for Aussies, turning down the all-important wicket of Bangladesh opener at the team score of 165.
Tamim’s 144 ball innings calculated 71 runs with 5 shots of four and 3 to long charming sixes.
Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim partnered with unbeaten Shakib Al Hasan in the crease. Nevertheless success brought another success to Australia as they managed to uproot Shakib Al Hasan from the wicket at the score of 84 runs.
Shakib played 133 deliveries with 11 boundaries. Nasir Hossain is yet to open his account.
