Live: Bangladesh bat first, make two changes

Bangladesh have chosen to bat first in the do or die clash against Afghanistan in the fourth Super Four match at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

Live Bangladesh vs Afghanistan, Super Four Match 4, Asia Cup 2018

Bangladesh have made two changes to their playing XI. They have included Imrul Kayes straighway after landing in UAE. He replaces Mosaddek Hossain, who has been left out after below average performance in the tournament so far. However, both Liton Das and Namzul Hossain Shanto are playing.

Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Nazmul Islam Apu has come in to make his ODI debut. He has replaced seamer Rubel Hossain to add spin options for the Tigers.

Afghanistan are high on confidence after being Group B champions. They were close to beating Pakistan but eventually lost by three wickets. They have made one change – Samiullah Shenwari in for Najibullah Zadran.

Bangladesh lost to Afghanistan by a massive margin of 136 runs in the previous meeting in Group B at the same venue. They were outplayed by India in the first Super Four match the next day.

Bangladesh must win this match in order to stay in contention for the finals or they will have to hope either of India or Pakistan lose today.

Mustafizur Rahman to Samiullah Shenwari. Slower length ball, to leg on the back foot Slog, to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Rahim. A thrilling end as Shenwari misses with an almighty heave and Bangladesh win by 3 runs. In truth Afghanistan never at any point looked favourites in that chase until the Bangladesh bowlers started to wilt near the end. That result secures a place in the final for India whle Bangladesh will now play Pakistan in what is effectively a semi-final. Time to catch the breath back, thanks for being with us.
