Live: Razzak keeps Tigers in hunt

Bangladesh were set in to bowl first by Sri Lanka. Abdur Razzak made his comeback to Test playing XI after four years. Mehidy Hasan Miraz opened the bowling with him. The off-spinner became the second Bangladeshi spinner to open a Test match.

Razzak got his first wicket on his return soon when Dimuth Karunaratne was stumped for 3 in the sixth over. Kusal Mendis, on the other hand, kept punishing short-pitched balls bowled by Razzak and Miraz.

Dhananjaya de Silva (19) settled in with Mendis but was undone by extra turn and bounce off the pitch from Taijul Islam. He put on 47-run stand with Mendis.

Mendis looked comfortable on a spin-friendly pitch. He reached his fifth half-century in 81 balls.

The gave was evenly poised until Razzak’s second spell. He took the wicket of Danushka Gunathilaka on his first ball of 27th over. Gunathilaka gave a catch of Mushfiqur Rahim at mid-off on 13. Skipper Dinesh Chandimal was bowled by a ripper on the very next delivery. Razzak was on a hat-trick but he didn’t get it.

Sri Lanka scored 105 runs for 4 wickets in 31 overs. Mendis is unbeaten on 64 runs off 96 deliveries including 9 fours and a six. Roshen Silva is also at the crease on 5*.

Brief scores:

Sri Lanka 105/4 in 31 overs (K Mendis 64, de Silva 19; Razzak 3/24, Taijul 1/35)
