Live: Tamim’s savage 141* sets 200 to win for Dhaka

Tamim Iqbal’s action-packed 141-run innings has let Comilla Victorians post 199/3 in the final of Bangladesh Premier League T20 2019 at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur.

Dhaka opted to bowl first at the toss in their third-consecutive final. Comilla’s 199 runs contained 141 from Tamim Iqbal, who remained unbeaten in the innings facing 61 balls. He slammed 11 sixes and 10 fours in his career-best innings.

This was Tamim’s third century in T20 cricket and first in BPL. Shahriar Nafees, Mohammad Ashraful and Sabbir Rahman were only Bangladeshis to score a hundred in BPL.

Comilla Victorians handed Rangpur Riders an eight-wicket defeat in the first qualifier to bag their place in their second BPL final. They won in 2015 final against Barisal Burners to lift maiden title.

Dhaka entered the playoffs as the fourth-positioned team on the points table. The Dynamites beat Chittagong Vikings by six wickets in the Eliminator and defending champions Rangpur by five wickets in the Qualifier 2.

This is the third-consecutive final for Dhaka Dynamites. They won over Rajshahi Kings in 2016 and lost to Rangpur in 2017.

Comilla have had two close wins over Dhaka in this BPL. The Victorians beat the Dynamites by 7 runs and 1 run in the round-robin stage.
