Lyon confident of making a T20I comeback

Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon is aiming for a place in the national T20I side and he is hopeful of playing the ICC T20 World Cup 2020.

Lyon hopes for match winning spin partnership with Agar

Nathan Lyon is the prime spinner for Australia with the red ball. At the moment, he is the third-highest wicket-taker for Australia in the Test format. But the off-spinner is struggling to make a mark in T20Is.

The right-arm off-spinner played only two games in T20I format and the last one was one year ago. In the squad announced for the home series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan, Nathan Lyon failed to find his name in the squad.

But the off-spinner is confident that he will make a comeback in the T20I side soon. “Definitely I want to put my hand up for all games of cricket, especially for Australia,” he said.

“Whatever game I play cricket for, I just need to make sure I’m doing my job and if I keep putting my hand up for selection, who knows where that may lead to?”

Further, the spinner is thankful the current Australian selector Hohns as Hohns is very kind with Nathan Lyon. “He just called me and told me I wasn’t in,” he added.

“But I had a really good chat to Cracker [Hohns] – I get along really well with him – so if I have any issues with Cracker, I’ll just pick up the phone. There’s no doubt. I have the absolute utmost respect for him so there’s no dramas there.”
