Lyon, is he going to be the match changer?

Lyon, is he going to be the match changer?Currently at the moment the last and series deciding Test match between Bangladesh and Australia is going on at the Zahur Ahmed Stadium, Chittagong. Earlier Bangladesh have won the toss and elected to bat first.

The Tigers seem to be very confident at the port city encounter. It was expected to have a good starting, but Nathan Lyon brought the first break through in a very early stage of the innings.

Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal who was in a very good rhythm in the last match, became the first prey of Lyon early at team total of13 runs. Then he picked up the wicket of Imrul Kayes soon at 21 runs team total. These early wickets put Bangladesh in a bit of pressure.

Though Soumya Sarkar and Mominul Haq’s 49 runs partnership gave a sigh of relief, Lyon again picked up another important wicket. He sent Soumya back to the pavilion at his personal 33 runs just before the lunch break.

These important top 3 wickets could gave a good total if not sent back by Lyon through LBW wicket.

After lunch break, Mominul Haq and Shakib Al Hasan tried to enlarge the figure a bit but Lyon picked up Mominul’s wicket at his personal 31 runs. All these four important wickets were taken by Lyon with the magic of his spin.

It’s crystal clear that this pitch is a spin favoring pitch and that’s why Aussies planned to deploy one extra spinner in this match. By this time Lyon who played very dangerous role in last match too, has already picked up the important wickets within Bangladesh’s team total of hundred runs.

It seemed to be that batsmen had to face problem figuring out the course of ball and Lyon made the best use of this opportunity. If he continues this, the match can be easily taken by Aussies.

Team Australia is certainly in a great pressure; still they could manage to pick up wickets by magical spin attack. It looks like that their plan is going well so far. Firstly Lyon took four wickets at a time very early and then lastly the great power of team Bangladesh, all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was sent back to pavilion by Agar.

So far, Bangladesh is now in a much pressured situation as early wickets are taken by the Aussies. And of them Lyon did the hardest part. For the rest we have to wait till the innings ends. In this pitch it’s quite natural with spin attack along with his spinner mates Lyon can be the match changer.

In the last match, all credit had to be given to the spinners bowlers because all 20 wickets of both innings had been taken by them; Shakib Al Hasan played the hardest role – he was the real game changer for Bangladesh.

In this match since the pitch quality is almost like the one in Mirpur, the spinners can play the game changer’s role one more time what we have already seen.

In the last Test series of Australia-India, Nathan Lyon had the history of taking 8 wickets in the first innings. Not only that, he had picked up 4 or 5 wickets in an innings in rest of the matches as well.

Here in Bangladesh the pitch condition is favorable and he has already showed his dangerous face to the Bangladeshi batsmen. But still we have to wait till the match ends to know whether he can be the match changer for Aussies or not!
