Lyon rewrites 130 year old Aussie record Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon produced destructive bowling in the two match Test series against Bangladesh. 22 is the number of wickets he captured in four innings of two matches which is the second most wicket taking by a bowler in a two match series jointly with Sri Lankan great Muttiah Muralitharan.

On the fourth and deciding day of the second and last Test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong, the 29 year old has rewritten 130 year old record.

With his 19th wicket of the series, Nathan Lyon became the highest wicket taker by any Australian bowler in a two match Test series.

In 1887, JJ Ferris claimed 18 wickets in two Test Ashes series. Nathan Lyon’s lethal bowling helped the visiting team to secure a victory in the second and last Test against Bangladesh thus they have able to level the series one all after being defeated in the first match.

In Dhaka, Lyon snared his 250th Test wicket and gone past champion Aussie performers like Richie Benaud and Jason Gillespie.

It is the second 10 wicket haul for Nathan Lyon.
