Mahmudul leads Bangladesh U19 clinch big win against New Zealand U19

Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Tanzid Hasan paved the way of the win for the visiting side with brilliant half centuries.

On winning the toss, New Zealand Under-19 opted to bat first and stored 242 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 50 overs. Opener Zohrab produced a magnificent hundred, the highest score in the Kiwi innings.

Featuring in 142 deliveries, Zohrab accumulated 112 runs with eight shots to the boundary. For New Zealand, the other opener OJ White scored 30 runs in 38 balls.

The home team’s innings nourished at the ending phase when Sunde added a quick fire 21 ball 29 with a four and six.

Mrittunjoy Chowdhury continued his good run with the ball in the tour, he grabbed a pair of wickets conceding 41 runs.

Bangladesh Under-19 started losing Parvez Hossain at the team score of 31 but Mahmudul and Tanzid dragged the team to a solid position standing for 95 runs in the second wicket partnership.

Tanzid played 63 deliveries to score 65 runs with five shots to the boundary and two to over-boundary. Bangladesh did not lost the way after the departure of Tanzid.

Mahmudul Hasan and Tawhid Hridoy added 77 runs in the third wicket partnership taking Bangladesh Under-19 team close to the victory target.

After a vibrating knock to 99, Mahmudul Joy unfortunately missed the century mark when he nicked to Clarke off McKenzie in the third delivery of the 45th over.

The win saw Bangladesh leading the five match series 2-0.
