Mahmudullah does not speak up, complains BCB boss

Bangladesh T20 skipper Mahmudullah Riyad does not speak up. He also does not answer clearly to any team related question. The complaint has been brought by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president himself.Mahmudullah does not speak up

After losing the first two matches of the three-match T20I series against Pakistan, Nazmul Hasan Papon had talked with the team’s two senior cricketers Mahmudullah and Tamim Iqbal. He wanted to know why they had opted to bat on an unfamiliar wicket after winning the toss.

The first match wicket was not batting friendly at all. But the BCB boss became really surprised when Bangladesh had decided to bat first in the second T20I as well. So he queried about the team’s such defensive mentality alongside the disorganized batting order. But the captain Mahmudullah did not come up with any specific response to satisfy him.

While talking to the reporters at his Dhanmondi office on Wednesday (January 29), Papon said: “I talked with Tamim and Riyad (Mahmudullah) after the first match. I did the same after the second one also. I thought they played very defensive cricket. The batting order also surprised me. The responsibility of playing in last two-three overs was on Riyad and Soymya. I had instructed them like this. But Riyad speaks very little. I also told him this, you are the captain, so you must talk.”

The entire team touring Pakistan for the T20I series seemed quite messy to the BCB president. And he wants to talk to the coach Russell Domingo about this, “The coach is new, so he needs time. He is making long-term plans. Maybe that is why he is experimenting so much. But I have to sit with everyone, specially with the coach.”
