Mahmudullah on verge of scoring a hundred, Nayeem dominant with the ball

National team cricketers Mahmudullah and Nayeem Hossain had a delightful day on the third day of the National Cricket League (NCL).

Dhaka Metropolis reached 225 with the loss of 6 wickets before the end of day’s play. Mahmudullah’s brilliant form continues in the ongoing NCL as he scored his third fifty in a row. He remained unbeaten on 95* and just a boundary away from scoring his first hundred in this season.

However, rest of the team-mates failed to perform well with the bat. Openers Mohammad Naim (10) and Rakin Ahmed (14) both departed in a poor fashion while Shamsur Rahman (17) also failed to make it big. Imran Ali and Enamul Haque Jnr picked up two wickets each for Sylhet.

Meanwhile, in the other game, Barishal bowled out for only 216 runs courtesy of a brilliant show from Chittagong Division bowlers. Nayeem Hasan picked up four wickets while Noman, Rana and Afridi picked up two wickets each.

Rafsan Al Mahmud looked in good touch and felt only run short from scoring a fifty. Nuruzamman (60) made a healthy contribution in the lower order.

Chittagong started their second innings decently, losing only one wicket with 50 runs on the board. Irfan Shakur was the only man to depart. Pinak Ghosh remained unbeaten for 30* while skipper Mominul Haque is not out on 9*. They lead by a huge score of 190 runs and are on their way to set a mammoth target.
