Mahmudullah rested for Zimbabwe Test, clarifies BCB chief selector
There was already a murmur of his exclusion from the Test squad. He failed in both innings of the first Test in Pakistan. It was then that the rumor became heavy. But chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu said Mahmudullah was rested, not axed from the squad for his poor form.
The chief selector spoke to reporters after the team announced in the Home of Cricket in Mirpur, at that time he said this.
“Mahmudullah is a senior cricketer, he needs rest,” Nannu said.
“We have already decided to exclude him from the team in this series, as we are playing a home series against Zimbabwe, here we are looking for some new cricketers. We also took some cricketers to the Pakistan tour.”
However, the last good innings of Mahmudullah was seen in the Test against the West Indies in 2018. After that he could not cross the 30-run mark in Test format.
