Mahmudullah XI’s win makes the tournament wide open
Mahmudullah XI won the game comfortably in the end by 4 wickets against Tamim XI in the 6th match of the BCB President’s Cup.
The tournament has now got wide open once again as Mahmudullah XI beat Tamim XI quite comfortably by 4 wickets courtesy of Imrul Kayes, Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Mahmudullah’s sensible batting.
It was yet another bad day for the Tamim duo as both failed to score big. Skipper Tamim Iqbal departed for only 9 runs while young Tanzid Hasan Tamim scored only one run. After losing early wickets, Yasir Ali, who played his first match in this tournament showed his worth by scoring a sensible fifty. He made a solid partnership with Mahidul Islam Ankon, who also scored a fifty.
In the end, Mosaddek Hossain (40) and Mohammad Saifuddin (38) played a terrific cameo innings to put the side into a fighting total of 221 runs. Rubel Hossain was the pick of the bowler, who picked up 4 wickets for only 34 runs.
In reply, Mahmudullah XI also had a poor start and it was yet another disappointing show from the opening duo Naim Sheikh and Liton Das. However, Imrul Kayes was finally back into the scoreboard with some runs as he managed to score 49 runs before departing to Khaled.
At the other end, young Mahmudul Hasan Joy played a steady innings and scored his first fifty of the tournament. Skipper Mahmullah also led the side from front with his sensible knock of 67 from 87 balls. Nurul Islam Sohan remained unbeaten for 26 and took the side over the line.
