Manoj Tiwary takes a swipe at Kohli for lack of clarity on Rohit’s selection

There has been no clarity over Rohit Sharma’s fitness even now. Previously, during the thirteenth edition of the IPL, Mumbai Indians captain picked up a left hamstring and did not feature for his team for four games.

Kieron Pollard was leading the team in Rohit’s absence. Rohit was sitting in the dugout in these games and eventually made a comeback to the last league stage game against SRH.

When BCCI first named the squad for Australia tour, Rohit’s name was missing in all the three squads. However, after Rohit started playing the game in the IPL, the national selectors decided to rest him for limited-overs series and then named him for the Test series.

Sadly, one more problem continued for Rohit Sharma and there was a logistical issue in sending him. BCCI had requested Cricket Australia to relax quarantine rules for Rohit Sharma. Meanwhile, skipper Virat Kohli, ahead of the team’s tour of Australia added that there is no clarity over Rohit Sharma’s fitness.

After the end of the IPL, Indian unit led by Kohli travelled to Australia for the full-fledged tour. However, Rohit had other ideas as he took the flight to Bangalore to head to the NCA. Indian captain Kohli conceded that he has no idea that his teammate Rohit was injured or about his chances of participation in the Australian tour.

“We had no information whatsoever on the reason why he is not travelling with us. The only other information we have received officially that he is at the NCA and he will be further assessed on December 11.

From that selection meeting to IPL finishing till the last e-mail, there has been no information, lack of clarity and we have been playing the waiting game on this issue for a while, which is not ideal at all. It has been confusing,” Kohli said in the virtual press conference.

Indian team skipper Virat Kohli further added: “Rohit Sharma played in IPL so everyone thought he was in the flight to Australia which he wasn’t and the reason was not told then only other info we got was he is in NCA and he will be assessed”.

Manoj Tiwary takes a dig at Kohli:-
