Mashrafe gets hamstring injury: Tamim to lead the side

Bangladesh cricket team captain Mashrafe Mortaza has hamstring injury. This was revealed by the chief selector Minazul Abedin “Nannu”.

Speaking exclusively over telephone from Dhaka, he said, “he got injury at around 7.00 pm while practicing at the nets”.

“Decision about his availability will be taken by a team of doctors (headed by Dr. Debashish Chaudhary). The BCB doctor will decide after seeing the reports whether he can travel with the team or not”. 

Later speaking to this Reporter, one of the sources confirmed that Mortaza is certain to miss the tour.

“He has been advised rest and also physiotherapy. He is out of cricket for at least three weeks.

The team is set to reach Colombo on Saturday afternoon.

As he has been declared unfit, BCB announced Tamim Iqbal as captain of the coming Sri Lanka series.

In Bangladesh, only the team is being chosen by the selectors. The captain is always decided by the Board.
