Tamim Iqbal, Litton Kumar Das and Shakib Al Hasan slashed three consecutive half centuries eclipsing some valiant batting effort from Paul Stirling and William Porterfield thus drove Bangladesh to the home of victory chasing 293 runs against Ireland by six wickets in the sixth match of the Tri-nation series at the Clontarf Cricket Club Ground in Dublin on Wednesday.

Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe bin Mortaza, at the closure of the contest, poured appreciation for the young Abu Jayed Rahi who claimed the fifer and won man of the match.

Mashrafe, therefore, said, it was not improbable to chase down the near 300 runs as the wicket was quite batting friendly.

“We knew 300 was ok to chase it down,” he said.

“In the bowling, Abu was brilliant. And our batting was really good especially the top-order. We have won three matches in the series and we are confident about the final,”

he noted.

For Bangladesh, openers Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das put up a 117-run stand in 100 balls facilitating the task ahead before Tamim got out scoring 57 off 53 balls.

Batting at number three, Shakib Al Hasan also scored fifty before being retired hurt.

Bangladesh’s second match in the Tri-nation series against Ireland was abandoned due to rain.
