Australia have won back to back games in Trans-Tasman T20 Trophy 2018 with a thumping five-wicket win over England in the second match at Bellerive Oval, Hobart.

Australia chose to bowl first following a victory in their first match against New Zealand. England made a quick start in their first match of the tri-series. Alex Hales scored 22 off 15 at the top.

Dawid Malan slammed a half-century. He hammered 50 runs from 36 deliveries including 5 fours and 2 sixes. Skipper Eoin Morgan made 22 off 14.

England were around nine runs per over in first half of their innings. Australia bowlers made them collapse at the death. England posted 155/9 in 20 overs. Glenn Maxwell bagged three wickets for 10 runs. Ashton Agar took 2 for 15.

In reply, Aussies lost David Warner for 4 and Chris Lynn for a duck to David Willey. D’Arcy Short and Maxwell put on 78 runs for the third-wicket. Short made 20-ball 30 with 2 fours and 2 sixes.

Australia’s run-chase was mainly dominated by Maxwell, who brought up his fifty in 30 balls. There was no real contribution from any other batsman. Maxwell single-handedly finished the game for the hosts.

The big-hitter hit a six off Mark Wood to bring up Australia’s win and also his second T20I hundred. Maxwell smashed 58-ball 103* runs including 10 fours and 4 maximums. Australia chased the target with nine balls to go. Willey took three wickets for England.
