Mayank Agarwal and Vijay Shankar set to replace KL-Hardik

India are forced to name replacements after the Committee of Administrators (CoA) suspended Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul for their controversial comments on a TV show.

Hardik-KL in a TV show
The suspension of Rahul and Hardik turns into a blessing in disguise for Mayank and Vijay as they have earned a place in the squad for the remaining ODIs against Australia.

The duo, who are on the spotlight since their appearance in a TV show called ‘Koffee with Karan’ have been sent back home on Saturday.

Mayank has been rewarded for an amazing show in the last two Tests against Australia where he scored two fifties. However, this is his first call-up in India’s limited overs’ squad. In the Test series, he also came in as a replacement of injured Prithvi Shaw.

Meanwhile, Shankar has been called up for the second time in the Indian dressing room after making his T20I debut in the Nidhas Trophy in March 2018.

Pandya and Rahul have a week to respond to the show cause notice issued to them by the CoA on Friday. The two-member CoA comprising Vinod Rai and Diana Edulji is figuring out who should carry out the inquiry after the players submit their explanations.

The two members of the CoA panel aren’t on the same page on this matter, which is complicated by the sexual-harassment inquiry that the BCCI CEO Rahul Johri recently faced.
