McGrath lauds Ishant’s performance in Wellington
Former Australian cricketer Glenn McGrath lauded the bowling performance of Indian right-arm fast bowler Ishant Sharma during the first Test against New Zealand in Wellington.
India have just faced their first defeat in the ICC Test Championship as New Zealand outsmarted India by ten wickets in the first Test at Wellington. Indian batsmen had a tough Test as they even failed to score 200 runs in a single innings.
The biggest positive for India in that Test was the bowling performance of Ishant Sharma. Sharma was reluctant during the first innings of New Zealand. Former Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath lauded the performance from Ishant Sharma.
“Ishant has a lot of experience, the way he’s comeback in the last couple years, its been impressive. I thought his career might have been finished at international level, but he has reinvented himself and he is bowling well,” McGrath quoted.
Ishant Sharma was suffering from injury issues before the series and his availability for the tour was in doubt. But he recovered well and passed the fitness test in NCA to make sure he is in the Test squad for the tour.
The former Australian bowler mentioned the above comeback from Ishant Sharma too. He further stated that Indian bowling attack can be vulnerable in any conditions. He is also expecting Jasprit Bumrah to make a comeback with the wickets count as he is going through some jiggles nowadays.
“I still have total faith in the Indian (bowling) lineup. They had a few injuries off late. Sharma is coming back and he did get five wickets. Bumrah had a couple of injuries and he is coming back. So, yeah, I think the Indian bowling attack is world class and there is no doubt about that.”
