Bangladesh won the toss and batted first and a great team effort where all eleven players had double figure score posted an impressive 508. West Indies was completely overwhelmed being crushed to 111 and 213.

The visitors did not have any clue how to deal with four prong attack of four quality spinners on the spinning track. While Bangladesh batted for 154 overs West Indies first innings lasted for only 36.4 overs and the second for 59.2 only.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz taking 12 /117 in the test became achieved the best figures among the Bangladeshis eclipsing his own record against England in debut series. He won the player of the match award while his Capatin Shakib Al Hasan for his brilliant all round performance was adjudged player of the series.

Looking back into test and the series in retrospect one must agree that Dhaka test was a complete team performance. Bangladesh also won in Chattogram. But there Bangladeshi batsmen except Mominul in the first innings also failed to come to terms with the turning track.

In Dhaka starting from debutant Shadman playing a sublime innings of 76 on debut to the number 11 batsman Naeem Hasan showed courage and skill with the bat. Mahmudullah Riyad scored a his third and consecutive second at SBNCS. Shakib scored a punishing 80 and Liton Das blasted 54. West Indies bowlers were taken to the cleaners.

On the same surface when West Indies came to bat they were shell shocked by Shakib and Mehidy being reduced 29/5 in no time. They were shot out for 111 within 36.4 overs only on a wicket where Mahmudullah alone batted for 40 overs. Mehidy took his career best 7/58 mostly fooling batsmen with flight and straightening the deliveries. Shakib with 3/27 was his partner in demolition.

Awe stricken West Indies was asked to follow on. They fared no better getting all out for 213. It could be still miserable had not Hetmyer played an explosive innings of 93 when he blasted 9 sixes and a four. Mehidy again was the chief destroyer taking 5/59. This time Taijul who only bowled an over in the first innings took 3/40. Bangladesh took a sweet revenge white washing West Indies.

Our batsmen made the task easier for bowlers Miraz

This series had many achievements of Bangladesh two debutants Nayeem Hasan and Shadman impressed one and all. Mominul produced an excellent century in Chattogram. Bangladesh could put together a fearsome four spinners who shared all 40 wickets in between them. Many brought into reference of Erapalli Prasanna, BS Bedi, Venkataraghavan and BS Chandrashekhar. But each of the Bangladeshi spinner not only excelled with the ball they batted brilliantly as well.

Bangladesh achieved series white wash. Not undermining the achievement at all time has come again to issue reminder that Bangladesh would not find any wicket like those at Chattogram and Dhaka while touring New Zealand up next and in ICC World Cup in England. Our batsmen struggle in all those wickets. Mission must be lodged immediately for preparing players for fast bouncy wickets. Bangladesh will not definitely appear with four spinners and no pacer. Our batsmen have adjusted against fast, moving deliveries on bouncy wickets.

Before the start of the home series this time Zimbabwe was thought to easier opponent. But they stressed Bangladesh to its limit surprising them with Sylhet test win. Bangladesh had to regroup and winning Dhaka test had to contend with sharing the series. West Indies thought reasonably as stronger opposition disappointed all. None of their batsmen excepting Hetmyer showed any intend to encounter Bangladesh bowling bravely. The bowling was good in Chattogram but was ordinary at Dhaka.

The teams would now play ODI and T20 series. Bangladesh is much stronger in those formats. Hope West Indies would regroup and prove more competitive.
