MI captain Rohit might return against SRH

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma missed a couple of games – against Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Rohit Sharma sustained a hamstring injury while playing against Kings XI Punjab. Kieron Pollard led Mumbai Indians in Rohit’s absence. Rohit Sharma trended on social media after he was not picked in any of Team India’s squad for the forthcoming tour of Australia. However, the BCCI made it clear in a tweet that its medical team is closely tracking Rohit Sharma’s progress.

Soon after the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the squads for Australia tour, Rohit Sharma’s name went missing. After Rohit was not picked, there were doubts that he might be ruled out of the IPL. However, in the latest update, if sources doing the rounds are to be believed now, Rohit Sharma is expected to return to the field on November 3, in what will be the last league fixture of the IPL against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah.

Now the Indian team selectors want more clarity and update over Rohit Sharma’s match fitness before selecting him. Once Rohit features in the IPL match and then he will be an automatic pick for India’s tour of Australia. The source close to Rohit Sharma said that the Mumbai Indians captain should regain his fitness in a bid to make it to India’s squad for overseas tour.

“If Rohit can play during the last week of IPL, that will be a good enough fitness test and then selectors can think of getting him back in the squad,” a source close to the cricketer said according to Outlook.

KL Rahul is India’s first-choice wicket-keeper batsman

It has been learnt that KL Rahul is being regarded as Team India’s first-choice wicket-keeper as far as ODIs and T20Is are concerned. KL Rahul has been in impressive form in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. He has by far been good with the bat and as well as keeping the wickets quite brilliantly.

The Indian selectors made their priority clear when it comes to picking the wicket-keeper batsman for Australia tour. The source went on to add saying that KL Rahul has also impressed everyone with his leadership skills in the IPL. Under his leadership, Kings XI Punjab rose from the ashes to register five wins in a row, which is quite a remarkable record.

“Rahul is being looked as India’s first-choice white-ball keeper till the 2021 World T20 and beyond. Also he has impressed everyone with his leadership skills and that’s why this elevation as vice-captain,” the source further added.
