The El Classico of IPL, as fans like to call it, did not disappoint the cricketing global. Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings went head to head, where CSK just managed to grab the win, thanks to a MS Dhoni special, yet again reminding the world what he is capable of.
After losing the toss at the DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai lost 7 wickets in 20 overs and scored 155 runs. However, Rohit Sharma's team had a nightmare start, when only 3 runs came from the top three batsmen's bat. Then Tilak Varma's unbeaten 51 off 43 balls, Suryakumar Yadav's 32 off 21 balls and Hrithik Shakeen's 25 off 25 balls gave Mumbai the fighting score needed to make a match out of this.
Chennai lost to Ruturaj Gaikwad in the first over. Mitchell Santner, Shivam Dube and captain Ravindra Jadeja also failed with the bat. However, Ambati Rayadu's 40 off 35 balls and Robin Uthappa's 30 off 25 balls kept Chennai in the hunt.
In the end, the match became difficult for the current champions. Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Dwayne Pretorius were in charge to take CSK home. When Pretorius returned to the dressing room in the last over with 22 runs off 14 balls, CSK's fate remained in Dhoni's hands.
What followed after was something Dhoni have pulled off on many occasions, but not with the majority thinking he would fail. Dhoni hit Unadkat for 17 of 5 deliveries, as he pulled CSK over the finish line, giving his side a much needed win, and keeping MI winless.
