Miraz joins the list of injured players
While the first Test match between Bangladesh and Pakistan in Rawalpindi approaching fast, the procession of injury in the Tigers camp continues. After Shadman Islam and Imrul Kayes, another Bangladesh cricketer in the form of Mehidy Hasan Miraz has joined the list of injured players.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will soon announce Bangladesh squad for the Rawalpindi Test, which is slated to begin on February 7. This match will be part of the ongoing Test championship. But even before the announcement of the squad, Bangladesh team are in the disadvantage, as Mushfiqur Rahim too will be absent from the match.
While Mushfiqur had already withdrawn himself from the tour of Pakistan, he is now injured as well, and can not play the first round of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL), scheduled to begin from January 31.
Meanwhile, Miraz had an incredible Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) campaign with the bat in hand. Still after that, he could not find a place in the three-match T20I series. But as he has been an “automatic choice” for Bangladesh in the Test format, he was supposed to be a part of the Test squad.
However, Miraz’s inclusion in the Test squad is now in doubt. He already had an injury on his finger, which reemerged during the Bangabandhu BPL.
Miraz confirmed the matter to BDCricTime saying, “I have had this injury for a long time. It came back once again while playing BPL. It is on the bowling finger of my right hand.”
Miraz has been roped in by Walton Central Zone for the impending first round of BCL. Ahead of it, the cricketers took the Mirpur Academy Field on Wednesday (January 29) for practice. But due to his finger pain, Miraz could not join.
So, will Miraz give the BCL first round a miss? The all-rounder answered, “I am still not sure about it. I can not comment on it. Tomorrow (January 30) I will go to the BCB, and I can confirm whether I will play or not only after consulting the physicist.”
