Miraz last played in the International Twenty/20 in December 2018, against Zimbabwe in Harare. However, he played only 13 T20 matches so far.
Still, the cricketer has been given the leadership of one of the most popular team Chattogram Challengers. It also means that the team's plan will be arranged around Miraz. The young all-rounder is looking forward to take advantage of this opportunity.
He says, "Performance is important at the end of the day, it is important who is giving how much on the field. This is a good opportunity for me."
"If I play good cricket, I may be able to return to the national team."
The spinning all-rounder, who has taken himself to unique heights in ODIs and Tests, is reluctant to view the T20s as less important.
In his words, "T20 is also important for Bangladesh. There is a lot of pressure in franchise cricket. It is my additional responsibility as a captain to manage that pressure, to lead from the front, to bring results to the team by playing well."
Miraz is not inexperienced in captaincy, but he doesn't have much experience either. This time he is quite optimistic about the young team.
"It will be easy for me as a captain to lead."
"It will be easier for everyone to perform with the support of their teammates," he said.
