Misbah and Babar to be sacked before 2021 T20 WC, predicts Pakistan great
Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif thinks that Pakistan head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and captain Babar Azam will be sacked before ICC T20 World Cup 2021 next year.
Recently, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Babar as the nation’s new Test captain, replacing former incumbent Azhar Ali on Tuesday, making Babar the captain across all three formats.
The 52-year old Latif also figured out Pakistan didn’t get their desired result under Babar’s captaincy and so there would be a change in the role in next six months.
“They should go there and win it by playing good cricket. They should win both T20Is and Tests. The Test championship is also underway. These guys are the future of Pakistan cricket,” Latif said in a YouTube video as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
“Azhar Ali’s spot in the side is a little shaky while Asad Shafiq is out of the team. It seems like there will be a different coach for the upcoming World Cup. It doesn’t seem like the captain will be retained for more than six months either.”
Pakistan men’s national team will play three T20Is against New Zealand on 18, 20 and 22 December, and the ICC World Test Championship fixtures will be held in Mount Maunganui and Christchurch on 26-30 December and 3-7 January, respectively.
