Misbah reveals the secret to dismiss Steve Smith early in the match
Pakistan head coach Misbah-ul-Haq reveals that bowling constantly in same line and length or near the top of the off-stump will be the main weapon to dismissing Australian star Steve Smith early.
Smith had been the star performer for his team in the recently-concluded Ashes series as his team retained the Ashes urn in England for the first time in 18 years. He chipped in with an aggregate score of 774 runs in the Ashes series at a staggering average of 110.57. Smith smashed 3 centuries, a double century and 3 half-centuries in the 4 Tests he played in the series.
“To the extent Steve Smith goes, there’s a blind spot for each top batsman in the world; as a bowler you’re constantly keen on pitching the ball there,” Misbah is cited as saying by ESPNCricinfo.
“It’s significant that we bowl with consistency there. Our bowlers are executing the plans at this moment, and ideally we’ll have the option to build that sort of pressure, and remain disciplined particularly from the get-go in the innings. Regardless of how great a batsman is batting, it’s about consistency and bowling the maximum balls in those areas that fabricate pressure and the batsman respects you, and you drive him to commit an error,”
Australia and Pakistan will play a two-match Test series between them. The first Test is scheduled to start on November 21 in Brisbane. Pakistan never won a series in Australia. Even they registered their last win in Tests almost 25 years ago in 1995.
