Mohammad Ashraful returns with majestic hundred

Former Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful squared an incredible knock of hundred playing for Barisal in the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL).


Barisal was sent to bat first losing the toss against Dhaka Metro. Mohammad Ashraful who opened the innings with Shahriar Nafees lost his partner when Nafees departed scoring 16 runs.

The batting side went on losing wickets at regular intervals; Fazle Mahmud and Moin Khan were back to the pavilion scoring 18 and 3 respectively while Nuruzzaman got out before opening up his innings.

In the fifth wicket partnership, Sohag Gazi and Mohammad Ashraful stood for a hundred run partnership that built up the innings for Barisal.

Sohag reached to 68 before leaving the partnership but Ashraful continued his good run carefully after reaching into his hundred.

Barisal declared their innings at 312 runs losing 5 wickets after Salman Hossain crossed fifty run mark. At that time, Mohammad Ashraful touched the majestic figure of 150.

The former national team star featured 204 deliveries hammering 16 shots of four in his innings without any over-boundaries.

In reply, Dhaka Metro could play only 12 overs before the match ended in a draw. Dhaka accumulated 34 runs without losing any wickets in those overs.

Both openers Shadman Islam and Rakin Ahmed were unbeaten scoring 17 runs.

Mohammad Ashraful was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant performance.
