Mohammad Ashraful stars in Kalabagan’s win

Mohammad Ashraful’s unbeaten 81-run knock guided Kalabagan Krira Chakra to a 7-wicket victory over Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the rain interrupted first day of 9th round in Walton Dhaka Premier Division Cricket league 2016-17. [বাংলায় পড়ুন: অবশেষে জ্বলে উঠলো আশরাফুলের ব্যাট]

Having elected to bat first at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan Ground-4 in Savar, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club posted 213 in the score board after 45 overs, losing nine wickets. Former national team batsman Rajin Saleh was the top scorer for the Dhanmondi Club with 45 off 71 balls.

Allrounder Sohag Gazi who scored a Test century for Bangladesh, contributed with 39 runs before getting run out in the 33th over. Two fast bowling allrounder Abul Hasan and Muktar Ali took three and two wickets respectively for Kalabagan.

Chasing a target of 214 in 45 overs, Kalabagan Krira Chakra had a perfect start with a 62-run opening stand between Tasamul Haque and Jashimuddin. Experienced opener Tasamul scored 48 runs, hitting seven boundaries while his partner played a 29-run knock.

Afterwards, it was one-down batsman Mohammad Ashraful who finished the match for Kalabagan Krira Chakra. He smashed a match winning unbeaten 81 runs innings from 87 balls. Ashraful and Mehrab Hossain Jnr. who remained unbeaten on 43, added 109 in their partnership.

For Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, Tanvir Haider and Shakil picked up one wicket each.
