Mominul out of T20 Cup with thumb injury
Mominul Haque has been ruled out of Bangabandhu T20 Cup 2020 with a thumb injury, confirmed Gazi Group Chattogram.
Mominul injured his right thumb while fielding in his team’s last match against Gemcon Khulna on Saturday. Although he came out to bad and scored 5* runs when Chattogram were chasing a mere 87. In the first game, he made 8* off 3 in a chase of 89 against Beximco Dhaka.
“I have fractured my right thumb. I got hurt while fielding. I’m done with the X-ray. Can’t say what’s going to happen,” Mominul himself confirmed the injury update.
Meanwhile, Chattogram physio Mohammad Enamul Haque has revealed that the left-handed top-order batsman will miss the rest of the T20 Cup matches.
“Mominul has a fracture on his right thumb. Surgery or plaster may be needed. He is not playing the tournament anymore with this sort of injury. We will get into processes after discussing with the doctors,” Enamul said.
The Bangladeshi Test captain has not been having a great time recently. He was infected with COVID-19 alongside his wife earlier this month. Mominul joined the team after recovering from the virus.
With Mominul likely to go through surgery, time will say if he is going to be fit to play before West Indies’ tour to Bangladesh that includes three Tests, three ODIs and two T20Is.
