‘Mominul should be taken into the playing eleven as a better choice’ says former board director

'Mominul should be taken into the playing eleven as a better choice' says former board director On Tuesday, bulky opener Imrul Kayes revealed to the journalists about the avidity of head coach Chandika Hathurusingha to play him in one down position in the first Test against Australia.

Hence the probability of Imrul Kayes playing at number three looming the possibility of Mominul Haque to be kept out of the playing eleven. Mominul, once thrown out of the scene has been taken into the squad after BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon asked the team management to include the ‘pocket dynamo.’

“I must thank board president to bring a solid batsman like Mominul back into the team. It would be rather meaningless if he will be thrown out of the playing eleven once he has taken into the squad,” Khandakar Jamil said.

He also said, “I think Mominul could perform in the team even Imrul will set in the one down because Mominul Haque batted at number four in several occasions earlier. In that case, either Nasir Hossain or Sabbir Rahman would be dropped. I think Mominul must be there in the team.”

When the former board director was asked whether intense pressure could hamper Mominul’s performance, he said, “Yes, this sort of situations inflict extra pressure upon any cricketer. But I think Mominul has the capability of doing well overcoming the condition. There are many such instances in international cricket. In our country, we watched Habibul Bashar and Minhajul Abedin to perform under this kind of situations in the past.”
