Mominul to remain Bangladesh Test captain
There had been immense criticisms about Mominul Haque’s captaincy and tactics during the last completed longer version match against India where Bangladesh produced quite a disastrous show losing both Tests by innings margin.
Despite that, chief selector Minhajul Abedin said it will be Mominul who is going to lead Bangladesh in at least next three matches.
‘Mominul will lead the team in the next three Tests as like he did in the previous two Tests. We are keeping our faith in him,’
The gate of captaincy opened for Mominul when regular skipper Shakib Al Hasan was thrown out of action serving two-year ban by the International Cricket Council on corruption issues.
Meanwhile Bangladesh Test skipper believes playing the first class domestic matches of Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) will be a good preparation for the forthcoming international assignment scheduled to start on February 7.
‘’Everyone needed a very good preparation before Test and I hope it will be a very good preparation for us through BCL,’’ Mominul told earlier.
‘’I think, match practice is very important. Playing the matches is far better than practicing. Because only with practicing not playing any match, there is no benefit. If you play more matches, it becomes more helpful.
‘’Specifically playing in this kind of tournament helps you in fielding because if you fielding for 90 overs, then your body gets adopted [of fielding for 90 over],’’ he said further.
Mominul will lead Islamic Bank East Zone in BCL said it would be a good learning curve as a captain as well.
‘’As a captain now I can watch well, how they play and get to know their attitude. So I think it is good opportunity [to learn as a Test captain],’’ said Mominul.
