Virat Kohli’s rankings have had a big impact on his failure to tour New Zealand. He has already lost the top spot in the ICC Test batsman rankings. This time his rating point has went down to 900.

More demotion for Kohli in ICC Test ranking

Steven Smith topped the ranking after Kohli’s poor performance in the first Test against New Zealand. Kohli started the second Test with 906 rating points. But after failing in two innings in this match, he lost 20 rating points. The Indian captain has been able to hold on to second place with a rating point of 886. Smith’s rating point is 911.

Tom Blundell and Kyle Jamieson were rewarded for their outstanding performance in this Test series. Two New Zealand cricketers are far ahead in the rankings. In the ranking of batsmen, Blundell has moved up 27 places, to 37th. Sri Lanka’s Dhananjaya de Silva is with him jointly.

Prithvi Shaw, who returned to the Test with the series after making his debut in 2018, has stepped up to the rankings released by the ICC on Tuesday. The young Indian batsman is ranked 76th after stepping up 17 places.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson had risen to three in place of Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne after the first Test. The previous place of the two has been changed again.

England’s Ben Stokes has risen up to 10th spot in India’s opener Mayank Agarwal’s failure. Mayank has dropped to 11th place. Cheteshwar Pujara of India is at 7th position.

Jamieson is ranked 43th from 80th in the bowlers’ rankings. The Kiwi pacer took five wickets for the first time in his career in the second Test. In the first innings, the batsman scored 49 runs. He leads the all-rounders’ rankings with 26 steps, to 22nd.

Tim Southee, who won the Player of the Series award with 14 wickets in two matches, returned to the top five position. He’s at no.4 position. India’s Jasprit Bumrah and New Zealand’s Trent Boult return to the top ten. Both of them are four steps ahead. Bumrah is at 7th, Boult is at 9th position.

Australian paceman Pat Cummins is at the top of the bowlers’ rankings. Stokes is at the top of the all-rounders ranking.
