MS Dhoni fans take a dig at Irfan Pathan after the pacer gets injured
Former Indian left-arm fast bowler Irfan Pathan made the headlines recently after getting injured during his first match of the Lankan Premier League. The former pacer who was signed by Kandy Tuskers for this season’s LPL was expected to deliver the goods for the team. However, that wasn’t meant to be as he was injured during the game against Colombo Kings.
The left-arm medium-fast pacer bowled just one over and 5 balls before getting injured. There has been no further development about the seriousness of his injury. However, he walked out of the ground after feeling discomfort in his leg. Meanwhile, his old tweet indirectly aiming at Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni has come back to haunt him now.
The 2007 T20 World Cup winning champion had earlier tweeted that ‘Age is just a number for some players’ and also added that the same ‘Age’ was a reason for the other cricketers to be dropped. Irfan’s controversial statement came after MS Dhoni struggled to lead CSK in the recently-concluded IPL. Under Dhoni, CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in history.
In Irfan’s tweet, the message was clearly aimed at the former Indian captain. According to his tweet which was indirectly aimed at MS Dhoni, the latter forced few senior cricketers to retire from the international cricket. However, MS Dhoni himself is still playing for the franchise even at this age.
Dhoni failed to score runs with the bat and also struggled to run between the wickets as well. Since his performance was not up to the mark, he received criticism from all quarters of the cricket fraternity. There were several reports and widespread speculations hinting MS Dhoni’s retirement since he has past his prime.
However, MS Dhoni has put all the hullaballoo to a close in the post-match presentation of the IPL by dropping a clarity over his future. The legendary cricketer himself confirmed that he is not retiring this season and he will continue to lead Chennai Super Kings for the seasons to come.
Irfan Pathan’s old tweet has indeed came back to haunt him as he was criticised by MS Dhoni fans when he got injured only in his second over. After he was injured during the game, MS Dhoni fans took this as an opportunity and trolled the pacer by asking him “Age is just a number?”. However, Irfan Pathan who is recovering from the injury is yet to react to this matter.
True 🙂 never criticise others if you can't reach the level. It was a wrong way to criticise Dhoni mr Pathan. Hope you recover well. pic.twitter.com/GtG3qrId4Q

Not making fun of Irfan Pathan but this is the same person who was questioning MS Dhoni for his fitness whereas he himself couldn't complete 2 overs. This is what happens when you only do back bitching rather than focusing on your fitness pic.twitter.com/VY2hMUUyAa
