According to Arun Pandey, MS Dhoni has no immediate plans to retire from international cricket despite the widespread speculation surrounding his future.

Soon after India’s exit from ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 as Virat Kohli & Co lost to Kane Williamson & Co in the semi-final contest, there has been a never-ending debate of Dhoni’s future.

“He has no immediate plans to retire. The constant speculation over the future of a great player like him is unfortunate,” MS Dhoni’s business partner Mr. Pandey told news agency PTI.

Mr. Pandey’s remarks came ahead of Sunday’s Indian team selection for the West Indies tour. Indian captain Virat Kohli will attend the selection committee meeting to finalise the squad with five selectors on Sunday. However, the clarity of MS Dhoni’s plans will be much clearer once the squad is finalised for the tour beginning August 3.

BCCI officials are likely to speak to MS Dhoni.

For the uninitiated, Mr. Pandey has been connected with MS Dhoni for a long time. He also handles his business interest besides leading Rhiti Sports which is a sports management company.

With the Indian selectors looking at the future after World Cup, MS Dhoni may not be an automatic choice in the team.

Dhoni has led India to titles in all major ICC events namely- ODI World Cup, World T20 and Champions Trophy.

His last international turned out to be a heartbreak as his 50 ended in vain for the entire nation as he was run out with a direct hit from the deep by New Zealand opener Martin Guptill which ended India’s hopes in the knock-out game.

MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja did their best in bringing India right back into the game by forging a 116-run stand after they were reeling at 24/4 chasing 240.

MS Dhoni has featured in 350 ODIs, 90 Tests and 98 T20Is. He has scored 10,773 ODI runs at an average of over 50 and in Test cricket, Dhoni has managed to score 4,876 runs at a pretty decent average of 38.09. In T20Is, he accumulated 1617 runs at an average of 37.6
