Mushfiqur fit to play, won’t keep wickets

Relieving news has arrived from Najmul XI camp as Mushfiqur Rahim returned to practice session ahead of the final clash against Mahmudullah XI in the BCB President’s Cup.

The right-handed wicket-keeper batsman took part in a self practice session on Saturday. Three days into the injury, Mushfiqur has not been seemed to feel uncomfortable during his session.

Mushfiqur injured his right shoulder during the 26th over of Tamim XI’s innings when he attempted to take a catch off Yasir Ali Chowdhury. He had to leave the ground after a primary treatment.

Bangladesh’s premier batsman was seen bandaged at the end of the match which Najmul XI won by 7 runs (D/L) in a thrilling fashion.

Mushfiqur has looked good in the practice session. The in-form batsman has scored two fifties and a solitary century in the tournament, being the leading run-scorer with 207 runs.

Bangladesh Cricket Board physio has indicated Mushfiqur would not be behind the stumps during Sunday’s final.

“Mushfiqur is fit. He played all types of shots in today’s session. Still we have advised him not to week wickets tomorrow as a precaution. The rest is upon the team management,” Debashish told on Saturday.

The final match between Najmul XI and Mahmudullah XI will start at 1:30 pm (BDT). The match will be telecasted live on Bangladesh Television (BTV).
