Mushfiqur seeks apology from Khulna fans
Mushfiqur Rahim is one of the top cricketers of Bangladesh. But never before did he play in a Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) final. And though he has finally got to play one, he failed to make it a memorable experience.
Following the 21-run defeat to Rajshahi Royals in the final of the Bangabandhu BPL 2019/2020, the Khulna Tigers captain apologized to the fans who were rooting for a Khulna victory.
He also vowed to win it if he once again gets opportunity to play in a BPL final.
“I am apologizing to the fans. If I get to the final ever again, I will definitely try to do better. I have gathered so many memories throughout the tournament. I will hope to do the same next time as well, and hopefully I will emerge champion with a good team,” said Mushfiqur.
The former Bangladesh captain also thanked his teammates and coaching staff, who helped him a lot for more than last one month.
“I’d like to say a very big thank you to all my teammates, and also to the coaching staff. They put in a lot over the tournament.”
As far as the final match is concerned, Mushfiqur believes his bowlers conceded 15 runs more than expected. Batting first, Rajshahi Royals set Khulna Tigers a target of 171-run.
“I thought we have given 15 runs more than we should have, but the last four overs cost us a lot of runs and a few dropped catches. That cost us the game.
“There are 7 local players in the XI so they need to put up their hand and they did. We just weren’t good enough in the final,” Mushfiqur added.
