Mushfiqur to miss Pakistan’s hospitality
Bangladesh star batsman Mushfiqur Rahim, who is not travelling to Pakistan with the national team due to his family’s concerns over security, said he will miss the hospitality from the Pakistanis.
Mushfiqur said this while talking to Samakal in an exclusive interview. However he said there was little chance to reconsider his decision and play in the Test series, even if the reports from the travelling T20 side are satisfactory.
“It is very hard to reconsider the decision within such little time. I never wanted to miss the tour. I have toured Pakistan even in the past. I like everything from their facilities to their cuisines. I will miss their hospitality. But hopefully I will try my best to visit Pakistan,” said Mushfiqur.
Earlier a few days ago Mushfiqur had announced that he would not be joining his team on its tour to Pakistan due to his family’s concerns over security.
“I have already said I wouldn’t go to Pakistan. I have decided it long ago and informed the board. I have submitted a letter too. My family is worried, and they don’t want me to go,” Mushfiqur had said.
Meanwhile, Mushfiqur thinks Pakistan are the favourites for the upcoming series. “Pakistan are definitely favourites on their home soil. Not that they can’t be beaten. On a given day, whoever plays better will emerge victorious,” he said.
“We are going as underdogs. But everyone is in good form, so hopefully we will get something positive. And for me, it will be really disappointing to watch my country play from outside,” Mushfiqur added.
