Mushfiqur wants title in Bangabandhu T20 Cup
Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim wants to be the champion in the upcoming Bangabandhu T20 Cup starting from tomorrow (November 24). He’s the captain of Beximco Dhaka for the tournament.
It should be mentioned that Mushfiqur didn’t the trophy till now in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) till now despite reaching the final two times. However, this time the 33-year old wicket-keeper wants to get rid of this. But at first, he wants to ensure the play-off stage.
Mushfiqur played for Khulna Tigers in Bangabandhu BPL T20 last year. Khulna reached the final of the tournament. Not only BPL or national team, this experienced cricketer also lost in the final of the recently concluded BCB President’s Cup.
Naturally, the captains of all the teams want to win the title. Mushfiqur is no exception. Although the main goal is to become the champion in the tournament, Mushfiqur wants to move slowly in the Bangabandhu T20 Cup.
“Look, there’s a chance in every tournament. The last two tournaments I played in the BPL and the President’s Cup, I didn’t succeed due to a hurdle. At the same time, I think it’s a consistency that both of the tournaments I’ve played in have made it to the finals.”
He added, “But this time our first goal will be to go to the top four. Of course then so that we can play the final. But the ultimate goal is the championship. That is our goal. I hope we can make a good start.”
The T20 Cup tournament is being organized with local cricketers. The local cricketers have a good understanding with each other. Due to which the captains will not have much problem to find the weakness of the opponent. However, Mushfiqur thinks that the team will be successful only if it can implement the field work well.
“It will be beneficial obviously. If you notice, we are local players but almost everyone knows each other more or less. But the important thing is, what you are executing on a particular day. I think those who will make fewer mistakes and execute better on the field will do better. I think we have a very good balance in that respect. We have to do the field work now,” Mushfiqur concluded.
Mushfiqur’s Dhaka will face Minister Group Rajshahi in the opening match of the tournament.
