Mustafizur cleared to play IPL 2021
Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman has been given NOC (No Objection Certificate) to take part in IPL (Indian Premier League) 2021 for Rajasthan Royals.
Mustafizur was bought at INR 1 crore, his base price in the auction in February. He will miss the two-Test tour of Sri Lanka in April-May.
“We have given him NOC for IPL as he is not in our Test plans for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. It’s better if he plays there and gains some experience,” BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu confirmed Cricbuzz.
Mustafizur is the second Bangladeshi to be allowed to play IPL after Shakib Al Hasan was granted to skip Sri Lanka series.
Earlier, Mustafizur left the decision to remain in the hands of Bangladesh Cricket Board saying country comes first.
“I will play Tests if I am picked for Sri Lanka series. If I am not picked, I will seek permission from BCB to play IPL,” he said last month. “Country comes first.”
Mustafizur last played IPL in 2018, where he played for Mumbai Indians. He wore Sunrisers Hyderabad’s colours in the previous two seasons. BCB restricted him from playing overseas leagues for two years after he had picked an injury in 2018.
Mustafizur may have a bigger role to play this year as Englishman Jofra Archer’s hand injury puts his fortune uncertain.
