Mustafizur finds no confidence
Five years ago Mustafizur Rahman had taken the world by storm when he first appeared in the international scene for Bangladesh. He also entertained the entire world through his cutters in the Indian Premier League (IPL) while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Overall Mustafizur was being considered as the next big thing of not only Bangladesh cricket, but of world cricket. And no doubt, he was an “automatic choice” for the Bangladesh selectors to be in the Tigers squad.
But that time is long gone. Mustafizur is no longer a sure shot for Bangladesh side. Rather he often finds himself at the receiving end of sharp criticism for losing his charm against the batsmen.
Mustafizur also feels the wrath of the spectators, and says he no longer finds confidence in him.
“I think I was facing troubles. Now everything is going good again. But the main problem is, I can’t find confidence. I have to practice more. I think my hand structure changed a bit after the surgery, but that’s not a big deal. It will be alright,” said Mustafizur on Wednesday (March 18).
The cutter-master also considers the present situation a learning curve for him, “It is good for me. I realize there are so much rooms for improvement. This is a lesson to be learnt for me that I am not eligible anymore. So I have to keep working hard and prove myself.
“There will be ups and downs in professional cricket. You have to accept them. Otherwise you will fail to become a big cricketer,” he added.
